A UK clothing brand has followed suit of several others as it plunges into liquidation after 41 years. The knitwear label is set to shut down after entering voluntary liquidation on June 4.
Original Blues: A Legacy of Quality Knitwear
Original Blues was founded in 1985 and provided unrivalled cotton knitwear for over 40 years. Now, the brand has ceased trading. According to The Gazette, Neum Insolvency Ltd have been appointed as liquidators. The online store has already been shut down and is now password protected.
The clothing brand made products from 100 per cent cotton using Indigo dye, with every item being made in England. Every piece in the Original Blues collection was conceived and created by the in-house design team, whose inspiration was drawn from the natural world, in particular nautical and marine themes, the Original Blues website previously stated. So they could offer an unrivalled range of unique, top quality knitwear incorporating a host of innovative and imaginative designs, textures and patterns.
Broader Impact on UK Fashion Retail
The closure comes after several other clothing stores in the UK have shut down. High street store Quiz entered administration on February 5 for the second time in less than a year, with all stores shutting their doors. This trend highlights the ongoing challenges faced by traditional fashion retailers in the current economic climate.
The liquidation of Original Blues marks the end of an era for a brand that prided itself on British manufacturing and unique designs. The appointment of liquidators signals the final step in the company's closure, with all trading activities ceased and the website inaccessible to customers.
