A close-knit community in Brisbane's north is reeling in shock and grief after the devastating discovery of four family members deceased inside their Taigum home on Tuesday afternoon.
The victims have been identified as 42-year-old Carra Lee Scheikowski, her 43-year-old husband Luke, and their two children, 12-year-old Samantha and 10-year-old brother. The discovery was made by a relative who became concerned after being unable to contact the family.
Queensland Police have confirmed they are treating the incident as a suspected murder-suicide. Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham stated that while the investigation is in its early stages, "all available information indicates this is a domestic-related murder-suicide."
A Community in Mourning
Neighbours on quiet Bounty Street described the family as quiet and kept to themselves, expressing utter disbelief at the tragedy that has unfolded. "They were just a normal family," one neighbour told reporters. "You never expect something like this to happen so close to home. It's absolutely heartbreaking, especially for those children."
Forensic officers remained on the scene throughout Wednesday, meticulously examining the property as police worked to establish a precise timeline of events.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities have stated there is no ongoing threat to the wider community. A report is now being prepared for the coroner as investigators piece together the final hours of the family's lives.
This tragic incident has sent ripples of sorrow through the northern Brisbane suburbs, prompting an outpouring of support for the extended family and friends left behind.
