Rangers have completed the signing of Ross McCrorie, marking Derek McInnes' first acquisition since taking over as manager. The versatile defender follows Lawrence Shankland through the Ibrox doors as the Glasgow giants ramp up transfer activity ahead of the new season.
McInnes Sets Title Sights
McInnes, officially unveiled this week, has firmly set his sights on winning the title. The club is looking to add Scottish Premiership experience to their ranks, with midfield identified as a key area for reinforcement.
Rangers face decisions over Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande, both entering the final two years of their contracts. Selling now could maximize profit, fueling speculation about Cammy Devlin following McInnes and Shankland from Hearts to Rangers.
Cammy Devlin Update
Devlin is a free agent after running down his Tynecastle contract and is currently on World Cup duty with Australia. He is expected to decide his future after the Socceroos' involvement in North America ends. Record Sport understands Real Salt Lake are leading the chase, with MLS rivals Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders also interested.
According to the Hearts Standard, "there has been no contact between Rangers and Devlin as of yet," while the player still has an offer on the table from Hearts.
Midfield and Defensive Targets
Reports indicate Norwegian midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl remains on Rangers' "wanted list" despite penning a new deal at Tromso earlier this year. The 20-year-old told iTromso: "I have lived with the rumours for almost a year, it's nothing new."
A centre-back is also on the shopping list, with Rangers short on options after Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius returned to parent clubs. John Souttar is under contract until next summer with an option for another year.
Dundee's Luke Graham is on their radar, but Portsmouth are reportedly 'firmly' in the race. The Portsmouth News reports that a £1.5million offer with a sell-on clause could secure the 22-year-old. Norwich City, Derby County, and Stoke City are also chasing a deal.
Zinedin Smajlovic is being eyed by Rangers, with Celtic among other interested clubs. The Bosnian has been a standout for Sandefjord this season. Sandefjord sporting director Matteus Bardsen told TV2: "Our ambition is to take big steps as a club, and to achieve this, buying and selling is an important part of our strategy. The signing of [Devon] Koswal does not have to mean that Zinedin will be sold in this window, but it is more about being ahead of the curve as a club. We are in a position where we must not sell anyone."
Goalkeeper Interest
Reports south of the border claim Rangers are keen on a new goalkeeper, with Hull City's Ivor Pandur among the targets. Jack Butland could move the other way for around £6million. Hull Live reports that City are open to Pandur's departure to cut costs and "avoid any potential Financial Fair Play (FFP) punishment."
