Manchester City have already secured their biggest signing of the summer transfer window, with Elliot Anderson officially joining from Nottingham Forest for £116m. The club has been busy in the 2026 summer window, but more work remains for sporting director Hugo Viana and new manager Enzo Maresca.
Biggest Signing and Ongoing Needs
Anderson's arrival is the headline move, but City are still targeting a midfielder, right-back, and winger to strengthen the squad. Maresca, who replaced Pep Guardiola, needs these additions to build a competitive team for the upcoming season.
Outgoing Transfers
Nathan Ake's move to Fenerbahce was confirmed on Saturday, with a deal worth £7m rising to a potential £8.5m. Manu Akanji has joined Inter for £13m. Other departures include John Stones and Bernardo Silva, who both left on free transfers. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey moved for £4.7m, potentially rising to £6.4m, while Isaac Smith joined Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. Several academy players also left on free transfers: Ashton Muir, Ezra Carrington, and others.
Loans and Other Moves
Mathys Deturbet, who joined from Troyes for £21.5m, has been loaned to AS Monaco. Oliver Whatmuff has joined Stockport County on loan. The club is also open to selling Savinho, Rico Lewis, and Nico Gonzalez if suitable offers arrive.
