Jensen Set for Aberdeen Exit as Elfsborg Close In

Swedish side Elfsborg is closing in on a move for Aberdeen’s Alexander Jensen, having lodged a six-figure bid for the Danish defender. The clubs are now in talks to try to strike an agreement, according to sources close to the deal.

Dons Seek to Recoup Investment

Aberdeen are keen to attempt to recoup some of the money they invested in their squad last season. Jensen was signed by Jimmy Thelin from Brommapojkarna for around £650,000 back in 2025, but the Dons will look to get more than that fee with add-ons. Jensen is now on the verge of a return to Sweden at his former manager’s old club.

Malmo had also been interested earlier in the season, but Elfsborg are now in the driving seat. Dons boss Stephen Robinson is prepared to sell Jensen if the deal is right for the club. Robinson still has Nicky Devlin and Dylan Lobban for right-back competition.

Jensen's Aberdeen Career

Jensen, in fairness, was a standout in his first six months at Aberdeen. He went on to be part of Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup-winning team, but struggled to hit those same heights in a team that struggled last season. Robinson had to come in from St Mirren at the end of last season to dig them out of relegation trouble.

The new manager is looking to rebuild his squad. He has already signed Tony Yogane and Moroccan striker Ayoub Mouloua for six-figure fees. Robinson has also signed Lewis Mayo, Brad Lyons, Alexander Briedl, Connor Ronan, Dan Happe, and Toyosi Olusanya.

Further Departures Expected

Aberdeen are still looking to get several players out to free up further cash. The likes of Nicolas Milanovic, Marko Lazetic, and Ante Palaversa are all available to leave for the right fee.
