Celtic have been given the green light to sign Jakob Breum, with Go Ahead Eagles technical manager Marc van Hintum confirming the Danish winger can leave this summer for the right price. The Scottish champions revived their interest in the 22-year-old, who has entered the final year of his contract and has refused to sign an extension.
Breum's Situation at Go Ahead Eagles
Van Hintum told Voetbal International: "Jakob is only under contract for another year and does not want to sign an extension. That means he is allowed to leave if a good offer comes in, but so far that has not happened. There is nothing concrete happening regarding him yet." Celtic previously bid for Breum 12 months ago but refused to meet Go Ahead's £5 million asking price, eventually signing Sebastian Tounekti from Hammarby for £5.5 million.
Celtic's Other Transfer Targets
Celtic are also tracking Bosnian playmaker Ivan Basic, 24, who is currently at the World Cup with Bosnia and Herzegovina. Basic, who plays for Astana, has appeared in group stage matches against Canada and Switzerland. Kazakh outlet Sports 24 reports that Celtic and Bulgarian side Levski Sofia are interested, with Astana seeking around £2.6 million.
Additionally, Record Sport exclusively revealed that Celtic are set to open talks with Boca Juniors over a permanent deal for Marcelo Saracchi. The 28-year-old left-back has been told by Boca boss Rodolfo Arruabarrena that he is not in his plans for next season, potentially becoming Martin O'Neill's first signing as permanent manager.
Recruitment Drive Underway
These three potential deals indicate Celtic's intent to strengthen their squad, particularly in wide areas, as they prepare for the upcoming season.
