The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an alert after a Tesco product was found to be in the wrong packaging, leading to a possible health risk. Tesco is recalling the item.
The recall concerns Tesco Finest Caesar & Smoked Bacon Coleslaw. Some packs may contain Tesco Finest Four Cheese Potato Salad instead of the correct product. The incorrect product contains mustard, which is not declared on the label of the coleslaw packet. The affected product has a pack size of 270g and a use-by date of September 4, 2026.
Health risk for mustard allergy sufferers
The FSA said: "This product contains mustard, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to mustard."
It added: "Tesco is recalling the above product from customers and has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. The company has also issued a recall notice to its customers."
These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
What customers should do
"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to mustard do not eat it. Instead return it to any Tesco store for a full refund."
