Sefton Park fire: unattended BBQ sparks grassland blaze

Fire crews were called to Sefton Park in south Liverpool at around 12.46pm after reports of a blaze. The fire, which broke out in grassland and bushes, was caused by a small disposable BBQ left unattended.

Emergency response

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene within minutes and found grassland and bushes on fire. The service said: "Crews extinguished the fire and utilised two hose reel jets to dampen down and hotspot the area."

Fire extinguished

The fire has been extinguished and crews have left the scene. A video of the blaze shared with the ECHO shows the devastation caused to the beauty spot.
