Firefighters are tackling a massive blaze on Saddleworth Moor in Greater Manchester, which has engulfed a huge area of moorland.
Crews Tackle Blaze Through the Night
In a statement issued on Thursday, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: "Our crews have been tackling a moorland fire near Holmfirth Road in Oldham through the night."
"Please avoid the area while emergency services respond to the incident."
Road Closed and Residents Advised to Avoid Area
Residents have been told to avoid the area on Thursday morning as fire crews continue to battle the fire, which broke out overnight. A road closure is in place near the scene.
Summer of Wildfires
The blaze at Saddleworth Moor comes after wildfires have ravaged Greater Manchester and sections of the UK over the summer. Major blazes erupted at Dovestone and Tintwistle earlier this summer, with the fires damaging nearly 1,000 acres of land.
