Hundreds of homes in Woolton Village are without power for the second time in two days after the energy network was deliberately shut down. The outage affects 14 postcodes in the L25 area.
Safety concern prompts shutdown
SP Energy Networks said: "We turned the power off in the L25 postcode area of Liverpool due to a safety concern that was identified while carrying out repairs to an underground cable fault."
The mass outage was first reported at 5.10pm today, August 4, and the energy distributor aims to have power restored by 9.25pm tonight.

The full list of affected postcodes are: L25 5LH, L25 9NA, L25 9NB, L25 9NJ, L25 9NE, L25 9NF, L25 5LU, L25 5LY, L25 5LZ, L25 9RX, L25 9RU, L25 9NQ, L25 9NH, L25 9RT.
People are advised to switch off and unplug all electrical appliances, including boilers, to protect their equipment.
Second outage in two days
The power cut is the second affecting Woolton Village in just two days. Yesterday, August 3, hundreds of people woke up to no power due to a fault with an underground cable. Power was lost at 4.56am, and was restored by 1.30pm. 24 postcodes were affected.
