Prince Harry could face further humiliation as his brother Prince William may strip him of his titles, according to speculation from TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan. The broadcaster believes the future monarch will subject his brother to a fate similar to that of his uncle, Prince Andrew, who is no longer entitled to use the styling "His Royal Highness" or the title of Prince, and was stripped of his dukedom (Duke of York). Andrew also had his honours removed, including major military ranks and patronages.
Speculation on William's intentions
Speaking to royal commentator Kinsey Schofield on his Drivetime show, O'Sullivan speculated on the situation between the estranged brothers. "I feel... you cannot overestimate how furious [William] is about the way the Sussexes have behaved. The way his brother has behaved and is behaving. And I believe that when William becomes king, he will reinstate Diana's HRH, and he will take away the Sussexes' titles, Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They will be given a similar fate to the former Prince Andrew."
Chiming in, Schofield agreed, saying: "And if he were clever, he'd do it at the same time so that we would be distracted by the Diana title and hopefully focus on that and not focus on Harry and Megan losing their titles. Like the Friday dump where you try to hide a story in another story. If he was clever, he would do it at the exact same time."
William's reported stance on Sussexes' return
The remarks came as it has been reported that William is pushing for a tougher stance on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as the Sussexes settle back into UK life after returning to Britain in August. During an appearance on Fox News, Royal Commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said William is "adamantly opposed" to the couple returning to royal duties.
Discussing the Sussexes' return to the UK, he made it clear there will be no "half-in half-out" agreement made for the pair, who stepped away as working royals in January 2020 in a move dubbed "Megxit". "We still don't know the main reason they are here [in the UK]," he observed. "My feeling is that Harry and Meghan will not get the opportunity to become a half-in, half-out, which is basically what they've wanted. Not officially, they won't be working members of the royal family."
Harry's position in line to the throne
"Harry is, of course, fifth in line to the throne still, and there's no question that I think they would like the option. After all, they have come to the United Kingdom in August. Without any warning, bar three days for the king, and I mean that is absolutely extraordinary," he said.
