A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office for parts of northern Scotland, with heavy showers, hail, and gusty winds expected to cause disruption on Wednesday.

The warning is in force from 10am until 9pm on Wednesday, covering six areas: Central, Tayside & Fife (Angus, Perth and Kinross), Grampian (Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Moray), and Highlands & Eilean Siar (Highland).
The Met Office forecast states: "Heavy, slow-moving showers and some thunderstorms are likely to break out from late morning. Along with lightning, gusty winds and some hail, these will have the potential to give 20-30mm of rain in 1-2 hours and perhaps 50mm in a few places over 3-6 hours."
Potential impacts
Localised flash flooding, damage to buildings from strong winds, lightning strikes, and hail, as well as difficult driving conditions and some road closures are possible. Travel delays and cancellations to train and bus services are also likely.
The Met Office added: "There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
People are advised to secure outdoor movable objects and gather torches, mobile phone power packs, and other essential items in preparation.

Northern Ireland is also under a yellow thunderstorm warning until 9pm on Wednesday, with potential travel disruption, flooding, and power cuts.
Meanwhile, firefighters in England and Wales continue to battle wildfires as temperatures remain in the high 20s, with no precipitation. The whole of Wales and half of England are in drought.
