UK weather maps show the return of hot weather across the UK next week. After a gloomy turn following weeks of scorching conditions, temperatures could increase next week as we welcome in a new month. Rain is forecast for this weekend, but temperature maps show an increase to 32C is possible in some regions.
Weekend rain for Merseyside
Parts of the north west, including Merseyside, will be hit with heavy rain this weekend, which the Met Office described as "much-needed". The weather map shows the potential for rain on Friday at 7.30am. Saturday looks to be largely dry, before rain is forecast overnight and into Sunday morning. Other areas across the north west set to be hit with rain include Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire.
Heat returns next week
But everything could change next week, with 32C weather forecast in areas in the south east of England on Saturday, August 1. Temperatures look to increase from Wednesday, July 29 as patches of deep red sweep across south eastern areas of the UK. However, the heat patches move further up north on Friday, July 31 before the largest patches visible on Saturday, August 1.
Although exact temperatures cannot be confirmed, the Met Office's long range forecast said it could be "very warm again" by the start of August. The UK forecaster said: "A changeable period is likely overall, with many areas likely to see a mixture of bright or sunny spells and some rain at times. Northwestern areas are more likely to see the focus of rainfall, but southeastern areas should also see some showers."
"Confidence becomes lower into the start of August, but there are hints that high pressure could return for a time, which would mean dry conditions resuming, especially in the south. Winds will be mostly light or moderate, but occasionally fresh or strong around some coasts, mainly in the north and west. Temperatures will be near or above normal, warmest in the south, and perhaps becoming very warm again by the start of August."
