A large fire has broken out at an industrial estate in Corby, Northamptonshire, after reports of an explosion. Residents are being urged to keep their windows and doors closed as a thick plume of smoke spreads across the area.
Blaze at Earlstrees Industrial Estate
The fire is believed to be at Recycleforce, a business off Gretton Brook Road on the Earlstrees Industrial Estate. Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue was called shortly before 2pm on August 10, with multiple crews attending the scene.
A witness told the Northamptonshire Telegraph: “We’ve just heard a huge explosion. The smell is unbelievable. It’s all over Corby.”
Official Warning to Residents
In a statement, Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue said: "We're currently in attendance at a fire on Earlstrees Industrial Estate in Corby, after being called shortly before 2pm (August 10). Multiple crews are currently on scene. Nearby residents are asked to please close their windows & doors due to the plume of smoke & avoid the area."
