Blackpill Lido, a popular family outdoor water park in Swansea, has reopened after being forced to shut once again this week due to poor water quality.
Reopening confirmed
On Wednesday (August 12), the council confirmed the lido had reopened, thanking the public for their "patience and understanding." A spokesman for Swansea Council said: "Great news. Your Blackpill Lido and local businesses are ready to welcome you back from today."
"Weather forecast is looking good for the week, so have a fabulous time. We’re grateful for your patience and understanding while we fixed the water quality issues."
Previous closures
The lido has experienced a number of closures this year. On April 19, the actions of thieves forced its opening for 2026 to be postponed after four stainless steel water fountain sprinklers were stolen, prompting a police investigation with officers appealing for anyone with information on the theft to come forward.
Then, on May 26, temporary fencing was erected after flooring had come away in some areas, reopening in July.
Water quality issue
This week, it was forced to close again, after the council said water quality needed to be improved, after recent testing had shown the need for a slight improvement.
