A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 has struck near the coast of Indonesia, a popular destination for British tourists, prompting an early tsunami warning.
Earthquake Details
The quake hit at approximately 10.58pm on Friday, about 68 kilometres north-northwest of Ende, at a depth of 10 kilometres, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The tremor occurred not far from the coast, leading the country's Weather, Climate, and Earthquake Information office (BMKG) to issue an early tsunami warning.
Aftershocks Reported
The initial massive tremor was followed by at least two other powerful quakes, with magnitudes of 5.9 and 5.6 respectively, all off the northern coast of Sikka.
