The village of Warkworth in Northumberland has been recognised as home to the UK's best hidden gem beach, according to experts at outdoor brand Millets. The beach topped the list with a hidden gem score of 9.14 out of 10, supported by Excellent water quality and a Trip Advisor rating of 4.8 out of 5.

Northumberland neighbour Beadnell Bay also featured in the new rankings. Warkworth beach's accolade adds to the village's growing national attention. Earlier this year, it was named the best village in the North East by rail company LNER, based on factors including nearby gardens, flowering plant species, walking trails, and rail access.
Village appeal and celebrity visits
Warkworth is known for its storybook setting and is considered one of the most desirable places to live in the country, praised by publications like The Times for its sought-after postcode. The village offers independent cafes, shops, and cosy pubs. TV personalities Robson Green and Rev Richard Coles visited last year to film an episode of Weekend Escapes, with Coles impressed by Warkworth Castle. They were also seen filming on a boat on the River Coquet.
