Heatwave brings sunshine to the North East
People in the North East woke up to bright sunshine on Thursday morning, following reports of another UK heatwave. Forecasters predict highs of 30 degrees in Haltwhistle, equalling conditions on the Canary Islands. The region has enjoyed a series of sunny events this year, including Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland, The Hoppings, Mouth of the Tyne, In the Park festival, and Plate Day.
Swim sessions and prices
General swim sessions at Haltwhistle run until 4pm on Thursday, with the pool due to close at 9pm, allowing visitors to attend after work. Prices until 4pm are £11 for adults and £8.50 for youths up to age 17, dropping to £6.50 and £6 in the evening.
The leisure centre is also promoting its cool water swims, scheduled for September, with sessions costing from £6 per person. Many swimmers have already expressed keen interest in these sessions.
