Manchester Airport July passenger numbers hit 3.3m

Manchester Airport welcomed more than 3.3 million passengers in July, making it the second busiest month the airport has ever recorded. The figure was 2.4 per cent higher than the same month in 2025, and just below the 3.5 million passengers served in August last year, which remains the busiest month on record.

Top destinations and passenger advice

Antalya in Turkey and Palma in Mallorca have proved to be the most popular destinations, with Palma set to be the top destination overall this summer. With several weeks left of the summer, Manchester Airport has issued guidance for passengers to ensure their journey is as smooth as possible. This includes arriving at the airport at least two hours ahead of their flight, and three hours for short haul.

Getting there early means you have plenty of time to check in and get through security, and if there is a hold up you are not in danger of missing your flight. The airport has also given passengers advice on how to make sure their hand and hold baggage get through security checks unchallenged – because one of the biggest causes for airport hold ups is bags that need extra checks.

Common baggage mistakes

The most common mistakes passengers make are innocently packing banned items – like liquids greater than 100mls, multi-tools, and even large squishy toys – in their hand baggage, and putting packs with lithium batteries in their hold baggage.
