Manchester Airport has confirmed the dress code for its Escape Lounges after a video went viral online of two women removing pin curls from their hair in order to be let in.
The clip, which has been viewed more than 180,000 times, sparked discussion online after two women showed themselves removing the pin curls from their hair in order to be allowed into the lounge.
Several people who commented on the TikTok claimed they had experienced the same issue when travelling through Terminal 2, the ECHO reports.
Escape Lounges: A Premium Experience
Escape Lounges is located airside, after security control, and prides itself on offering a “premium” experience at the airport. It is open to everyone, with the service promising to turn time at the airport into “an escape to remember”.
Inside, guests are offered a “standout food and drink offering, known for its range, quality, and freshly prepared options made on site”. The lounges also feature comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, live flight information and spaces where passengers can unwind or work before their flight. However, those wishing to access the lounges must adhere to a dress code.
Official Statement on Dress Code
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport told the ECHO: “We do not allow certain items, including: (but not limited to) football/rugby tops or Sports team shirts/shorts, clothing with slogans or motifs that may offend, fancy dress including sashes/headwear/matching items, or clothing that exposes midriffs or upper thighs."
"Hair rollers or pin curls must be covered with a head scarf. These requirements are all in keeping with the Smart Casual dress code in Escape and are clearly stipulated in the terms and conditions."
The Escape Lounges section of Manchester Airport’s website also states: “We reserve the right to refuse entry, without refund, to anyone wearing clothing we deem to be unsuitable.”
