Jet2 has issued warnings for passengers traveling to two popular holiday destinations, the Algarve and Madeira, due to annual motorcycle rallies that may cause significant traffic disruption and road closures.
Algarve Motorcycle Rally Alert
The first alert, issued on Thursday, July 16, 2026, concerns the Algarve region in Portugal. The Annual Motorcycle Rally, organized by Moto Clube Faro, will take place in Faro from July 16 to July 19, 2026. Jet2 warned that this event could result in increased traffic around Faro Airport. The airline advised affected passengers to allow extra time for their journey to the airport and to arrive at least two hours before their scheduled departure time. Jet2 also reminded travelers that check-in closes 40 minutes before the flight's scheduled departure.
Madeira Motorcycle Rally Alert
A second alert applies to Madeira, where the Annual Motorcycle Rally will be held in Funchal on Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19, 2026. Jet2 stated that road closures and traffic disruption are expected in and around the area. Passengers are again urged to allow extra travel time and to arrive at the airport at least two hours before departure, with check-in closing 40 minutes before the scheduled flight time.
General Travel Advice
Jet2 advises all passengers, regardless of destination, to check the Travel Information section on its website at least twelve hours before departure. The airline recommends arriving at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled departure time and reminds passengers that check-in desks close 40 minutes before that time. In case of flight disruption, Jet2's Operations teams at its UK headquarters work to get passengers on their way as soon as possible.
