Free Commonwealth Games fan zone opens in Glasgow park

The Game On Live Site has opened today (July 23) in Kelvingrove Park, where visitors can watch live sporting action on giant screens, take part in free activities and soak up the atmosphere throughout the games.

Free daily coverage and activities

Running every day until August 2, the fan zone will offer more than 12 hours of live Commonwealth Games coverage each day across three large screens. The free event is designed to bring together families, friends and sports fans during the 11-day games, with a packed programme of activities taking place across seven different areas of Kelvingrove Park.

Alongside live screenings, visitors will be able to try a wide range of sports and physical activities inspired by the games, with opportunities aimed at encouraging people of all ages to get involved. The site will also host creative workshops, family games and play sessions, as well as live performances and participation events as part of Scotland's wider Summer of Sport celebrations.

Focus on families and athlete meet-ups

Children and young people are expected to be a particular focus of the Game On Live Site programme, with plenty of free activities taking place throughout the duration of the games. Additionally, there will be opportunities for the public to meet athletes competing across the games from a wide range of sports. Many of the athletes will be taking time out of their busy schedules to spend the day at Kelvingrove Park.

Families can also keep an eye out for the mascot Finnie, who will be making regular appearances throughout the event, leading activities, and meeting the public.

Organisers' vision

Martin Reynolds, Deputy Chief Executive of Commonwealth Sport, said: "The Commonwealth Games are about much more than what happens in the venues. They are an opportunity to bring communities together, inspire the next generation and create moments that everyone can be part of. The Game On Live Site will help people experience the excitement of Glasgow 2026 beyond the field of play."

The Game On Live Site is free to enter and will be open daily in Kelvingrove Park from July 23 until August 2.
