Drunk Passenger Forces Ryanair Flight to Reverse on Runway

A Ryanair flight transporting British holidaymakers from Madrid to Ibiza was compelled to reverse on the runway following disruptive behaviour from an intoxicated passenger, creating significant chaos onboard. The incident, which occurred on the evening of February 12, resulted in a two-hour delay as reported by the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

Onboard Chaos and Disruption

Shocking footage captured aboard the aircraft depicted the apparently drunk man shouting aggressively at fellow passengers. Multiple cabin crew members were observed attempting to calm the individual, with another passenger also stepping in to intervene. Despite these efforts, the man's anger escalated, and he could be heard striking various parts of the cabin interior.

Passenger Account of the Incident

One passenger recounted the scene, stating, 'We were boarding and already saw the young man making a scene, talking loudly on the phone, shouting, and everyone was watching him.' The passenger further explained that despite explicit instructions to turn off his mobile device, the man remained belligerent and continued using his phone.

'He kept using his phone, and then they reprimanded him. The plane had to stop, attendants approached him, he took off his seatbelt, until a fellow passenger told him enough was enough. It was chaotic,' the source added. The tensions onboard grew so severe that Spanish police were summoned to remove the disruptive passenger from the aircraft.

Recent Similar Incident Involving Ryanair

This event follows a similar disturbance just months prior, where an intoxicated British passenger on a Ryanair flight from Kraków to Bristol had to be physically restrained by police. The November 11, 2025 incident forced the pilot to circle the airport after the man refused to sit down for landing.

Details of the Previous Flight Disturbance

Footage filmed by passenger Kacper Bujak showed the individual swearing, arguing with cabin crew, and resisting security staff. At one point, he directed a middle finger gesture at Bujak. The confrontation intensified as the man grew increasingly irate, insulting officers as 'scumbags' and 'bang out of order' while being handcuffed.

Bujak noted that the same passenger had caused havoc on a previous flight the Sunday before, drinking heavily, swearing, and behaving inappropriately towards a young woman seated nearby. He also disrupted border control upon arrival in Kraków. On the return journey, the man initially appeared calmer but after consuming alcohol onboard, his behaviour deteriorated rapidly.

Passengers pleaded with him to quieten down due to children being present, sparking further arguments. As landing approached, he repeatedly refused orders to sit, compelling the pilot to abandon the approach. 'The man was loud most of the time,' Bujak said. 'As soon as he had a drink, he started his mischief and acting up.'

The video concluded as passengers disembarked, but Bujak reported that police spent over an hour removing the man, delaying the aircraft's next scheduled departure back to Kraków. The Daily Mail has contacted Ryanair for comment regarding both incidents.
