Scottish TikTok star Rachel Spicer has sent social media into a frenzy after sharing a clip of her stay at Eden Leisure Village on Millcroft Road in Cumbernauld. The venue, a popular wedding spot in North Lanarkshire, offers glamping pods, hobbit huts and chalets, but it was the Vessel Pod No 1 that stole the show.
Standing inside the glass pod, Spicer announced: "We're at a couple's holiday in Cumbernauld!" She described it as a "futuristic tardis" and exclaimed: "This place is insane." The pod is equipped with a wood-fired hot tub and a cinema screen projector TV, sleeps two, and operates on a two-night minimum stay with prices starting from £250, or £125 a night.
Inside the Vessel Pod No 1
The pod features a king-size bed positioned so guests can admire sunsets through the glass from bed. It opens onto an attached glass balcony furnished with a table and chairs, and is sheltered to remain usable even in Scottish rain. Inside, there is a bathroom with a standing shower and a dressing table with a LED mirror. Outside in the private garden, guests have access to a wood-fired hot tub, a firepit, and a bespoke kitchen and bar. Dogs are not permitted in the pods.
For families, Vessel Pod No 2 offers a similar experience but sleeps four. The interior is slightly bigger with two rooms and a living area, and it has the same facilities except there is no bar or hot tub outside.
Locals can't believe it's Cumbernauld
After the clip went viral, locals were stunned to see Cumbernauld being marketed as a holiday destination. One said: "I've never heard anyone this excited to be in Cumbernauld." Another joked: "Never thought I'd ever hear of anyone holidaying in Cumbernauld."
A third wrote: "I forgot people willingly come to Cumbernauld." But a more positive response read: "I have lived here for 10 years and never knew this is existed. This is class."
What past visitors say
People who have already visited the venue left glowing reviews. "Eden Leisure Village is incredible, my best friend got married here and it was an amazing day. They are incredible hosts," one wrote. Another said: "Been at here for weddings and never seen just how lovely these cabins are inside. Honestly stunning."
One more added: "Sometimes it's not the place you're in, it's the company. Looks amazing."
Cumbernauld's hidden gem
