Brockwell Lido in Brixton has been named the best place in London for a refreshing dip during a heatwave, according to new research by TimeOut. The art deco spot, built in 1937, features a 50-metre unheated pool and ample sunbathing space, making it a local favourite whenever temperatures rise.

The Grade II listed lido offers an open terrace for post-swim sun sessions and a lane-free area for casual swimming. TimeOut also awarded it the best spot for a post-swim brunch. A 50-minute slot costs £9.50, and the pool is open all year round, seven days a week, including Christmas Day.
Pizza chain 400 Rabbits operates a takeaway window next to the pool, serving pizza and iced coffee. During hot spells, early booking is recommended. As of the week ahead, slots are available on weekday evenings and most of Saturday, except the 1pm general swim.
Recent Changes and Visitor Feedback
In April 2026, the lido's future was uncertain after parent company Fusion Lifestyle went into administration, but it was taken over by Lambeth Council. A poolside sauna was introduced last year for cooler months.
On TikTok, user @katiehoylee described her visit as 'dreamy,' praising the open section for chilling and floating. Another user, @chewashere_, called it 'one of the best solo dates in the city.' However, some TripAdvisor reviews criticised the changing rooms for being unclean. VM-S wrote in August 2023: 'The pool is as clean as possible... Sadly, the state of the changing rooms has much to be desired.' Louise C added: 'I was shocked at the state of the changing rooms, toilets, and communal areas.'
