Yellow thunderstorm warnings have been issued across several parts of the UK for Monday, July 21. The Met Office has warned of scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with rainfall varying by location.
The first warning, active from 3pm to 9pm, covers the East of England, London and South East England, and parts of South West England. During this period, flooding, travel disruption and local damage are possible. A second warning, from 11am to 9pm, affects southern Scotland and northern England, with a higher risk of intense rainfall of 40mm to 50mm, along with lightning, hail and gusty winds.
Some areas could see 20mm to 30mm of rain within a couple of hours. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to gradually ease by Monday evening.
New weather maps from Netweather indicate heavy rainfall across the UK, with up to 30mm expected in parts of northern Scotland, northern England and the South East. WX Charts also predicts significant downpours in the Midlands and near Newcastle around 3pm on Monday.
