Tornadoes Damage Homes and Buildings in Mississippi

Multiple tornadoes struck central and western Mississippi on Wednesday, causing roofs to be torn off of buildings and leaving a trail of damage across several counties.

Initial Reports of Damage

The sheriff's office in Lamar County reported receiving initial reports of roofs damaged at the Industrial Park and trees down in the area, according to WAPT. The Carthage Police Department also shared photos of flooding and fallen trees in Leake County.

Widespread Impact

Mississippi Emergency Response Management reported that 815 homes across Franklin and Lincoln counties were affected. A mobile home park in Bogue Chitto was also reporting heavy damage, as officials there said first responders were having trouble getting to work on the recovery efforts due to downed trees in the area, Dark Horse Press reports.
