Severe flooding has struck the Isle of Wight and parts of South Wales following relentless heavy rainfall, prompting emergency evacuations and widespread disruption.
Residents in Newport, Isle of Wight, and several areas in South Wales were forced to leave their homes as floodwaters surged, with emergency services working through the night to assist those affected.
Emergency Response Underway
Local authorities have deployed sandbags and set up temporary shelters as rivers overflowed, submerging roads and cutting off access to some communities. Firefighters and rescue teams used boats to reach stranded residents.
"The situation is rapidly evolving, and we urge people to avoid unnecessary travel," a spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council said.
Transport Chaos
Major transport routes, including roads and rail lines, have been severely impacted. Trains between Newport and other key locations in South Wales faced cancellations, while several roads were rendered impassable.

The Met Office has issued additional weather warnings, predicting further heavy rainfall in the coming days. Experts warn that already saturated ground increases the risk of further flooding.
