The Met Office has named 27 areas across the UK that will face heavy rain on Tuesday, July 28, with a small risk of thunder in the north.

The Met Office said: "Rain in the north with some heavy downpours in Scotland at times and a small risk of thunder. Dry and sunny in the south, feeling more humid than of late."

Forecast details

Netweather.tv forecaster Nick Finnis added that Tuesday will see dry and sunny conditions in the south with temperatures reaching the high 20s, while northern England and Scotland will experience more cloud and showery rain.

Wildfire context

This weather comes as parts of Scotland continue to deal with a major wildfire in Cairngorms National Park. A "major incident" was declared on Friday, with residents urged to evacuate. Emergency services had been battling the blaze for 10 days since July 15.
