Hundreds Flock to South Shields Beach as Temperatures Hit 25°C

Hundreds of people flocked to South Shields beach on Wednesday as temperatures soared to 25°C in South Tyneside, with other parts of the North East reaching 28°C. The warm weather drew crowds to the coast, where many took advantage of the sunshine to sunbathe, enjoy water sports, or cool off with a dip in the sea.

Beachgoers Make the Most of the Heat

Visitors were seen setting up deck chairs and windbreakers on the sand, while others enjoyed cold drinks and ice creams from local vendors such as Minchella & Co. Some took part in paddleboarding and other water sports, and a lifeguard was on duty monitoring swimmers. Cyclists also took breaks on the beach to rest in the sunshine.

Forecast for Continued Warmth

According to the Met Office, Thursday is expected to be similar to Wednesday, with plenty of sunshine and very warm or hot conditions by the afternoon. The warm spell is set to continue, drawing more visitors to coastal areas across the region.
