Temperature Drop Details
According to WXCharts, temperatures will fall below 10C in several regions. In Scotland, the mercury could dip to 6C early on June 30. Northern England may see lows of 9C to 10C, while Wales will experience temperatures between 10C and 12C. The Midlands and South of England, typically warmer, will still see cooler mornings, with Devon and Cornwall dropping to 12C and the South East around 14C to 15C on Monday, June 29.
Current Heatwave Conditions
The UK has been enduring its second scorching heatwave of 2026, following a record-breaking May. On Wednesday, temperatures approached 40C, prompting a red weather warning for Wednesday and Thursday. An amber warning was initially in place for Friday and Saturday, but Friday has now been upgraded to a red warning. The extreme heat has posed health risks for the general population, with many struggling to sleep and stay cool, particularly in southern England, the Midlands, and South Wales.
Outlook for Late June and July
The Met Office forecasts "fairly changeable conditions" starting June 30, with "periods of rain and showers" and possible thundery showers. The southeast may see drier and brighter weather initially. July could start drier for many, though the northwest may still experience rain and strong winds. Temperatures are expected to be near average in the north and slightly warmer than average in the south, but not as hot as recent days, with westerly winds keeping conditions moderate.
