Tesco is giving away thousands of free breakfasts this weekend to commemorate Armed Forces Day. The supermarket chain is providing serving Armed Forces personnel and military veterans with a free hot breakfast at 335 Tesco Cafés nationwide on Sunday, 28 June.
Eligibility and How to Claim
Approximately 159,000 regular Armed Forces personnel and 32,000 reservists qualify for the promotion, while veterans can also obtain the complimentary meal by presenting a valid Veteran's ID card. Participants can select from The Breakfast, The Veggie Breakfast, The Vegan Breakfast, a Sausage Bap, Egg Bap, Veggie Bap or Bacon Bap.
To access the offer, serving personnel must show their MOD90 military ID card at the drinks counter in a Tesco Café, where staff will issue them with a voucher. The voucher can subsequently be scanned at the kiosk during ordering to claim the free breakfast. Veterans can follow the identical procedure by showing a valid Veteran's ID card.
Background and Impact
The scheme is returning for its second year for veterans, with Tesco disclosing it has distributed more than 7,800 free breakfasts to serving personnel and veterans since 2022. Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO and executive sponsor of the supermarket's Armed Forces Network, said: "Tesco has a long association with the Armed Forces and we are proud to be the leading private sector employer of veterans in the UK, which we support through our thriving Armed Forces network. This Armed Forces Day, we are recognising those who serve and have served. Everyone loves a free breakfast and it's a nice way of thanking them for their service."
Sabrina Lungo, chair of Tesco's Armed Forces Network, added: "We take great pride in our connection with the Armed Forces and offering this small token of appreciation on Armed Forces Day is just one way that we're helping and recognising serving personnel and veterans. In 2025, we reconfirmed our commitment to the Armed Forces community through re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant and launching our three-year partnership with Help for Heroes, to support not only veterans at Tesco but the wider community."
The promotion is valid for one day only on Sunday, 28 June, at participating Tesco Cafés nationwide.
