Lewis Capaldi has kept his promise to two young fans in a heartwarming full circle moment that began months earlier on Ireland's The Late Late Toy Show. Best friends Keelan Tiernan and Dylan Bowe first appeared on the programme back in December, where they spoke about their love for the Scottish singer.
Impact on Keelan's Confidence
During the programme, Capaldi heard how much of an impact he had made on them, particularly Keelan, who has Tourette syndrome and has spoken openly about how the singer helped him find confidence in his voice. Keelan explained just how much Capaldi meant to him by telling host Patrick Kielty: "He encourages me to sing more, and also he has Tourette's like I do."
Promise Made and Kept
After hearing their story, Capaldi then surprised the pair with a touching video message as he apologised that he couldn't be there to meet them in person, as he was touring Australia at the time. Although he promised the boys they would get the opportunity to hear him perform live as he offered them tickets to his gig in Dublin's Marlay Park. The promise turned into a reality on Wednesday night (June 24) when Keelan and Dylan attended the Dublin gig as VIP guests.
VIP Treatment
The pair were treated like royalty, with a driver collecting them from their homes and bringing them directly to the venue, along with a police escort and fast track access into the concert grounds. The experience escalated further when they were brought backstage just before Capaldi went on stage. There he surprised them in person, with the boys visibly emotional at meeting their favourite singer. The trio spent time chatting and taking photos before the boys were escorted to the front row to enjoy the show.
Shout-Out on Stage
Just when they thought they had seen it all, Capaldi went a step further with a shout-out on stage. At the end of one of his songs, he spotted the pair in the crowd and made sure the audience knew exactly who they were. "These lads in the front row, It's Keelan and Dylan in the front row everybody," Capaldi told the audience. "Here they are," he said as he pointed to the pair. "They're here today as my guests, they were on the Toy Show this year, very lovely. Good lads, lovely family and big round of applause for Keelen and Dylan everyone." Capaldi then dedicated his next song to the two boys, who cheered from the front row.
Family Gratitude
Capaldi's efforts with the two young boys clearly didn't go unnoticed, with Keelan's mum later commenting on RTE's Instagram post to personally thank him. She wrote: "What an absolute amazing experience, Keelan woke this morning still buzzing, Lewis was brilliant wit the boys so so down to Earth, everyone we met along the way yesterday was so nice and accommodating to us all, we are forever grateful."
