Celtic had two goals ruled out in their 2-1 win against St Mirren in Paisley, with pundit Richard Foster questioning the accuracy of the VAR offside lines used to disallow them.
Camilo Duran thought he had levelled for the Premiership champions in the first half, but the goal was checked by video assistant Don Robertson and judged offside by the narrowest of margins. In the final stages, Shim Mheuka's first goal for Celtic was also struck off after referee Ryan Lee was called over by Robertson because the call was too tight to accurately draw lines.
Technical malfunction disrupts match
Referee Lee endured a frantic night after a technical malfunction lost connection with the VAR assistants at Clydesdale House. The second half was delayed before Sky informed viewers Lee was back online after the action had resumed.
Foster, speaking to Sportsound, said: "It's a tight one (Duran), you'll see the other one (Mheuka). I'm still not sure, I'm not sure those lines, cameras, are that accurate, because it is so tight, you are talking a couple of inches there, milliseconds."
O'Neill voices frustration
Celtic boss Martin O'Neill was forthright after the final whistle as he lamented Duran's disallowed goal and reacted to the VAR gremlins which beset the match officials. The 74-year-old, who watched Liam Scales and Yang strike to turn it around in Paisley, said: "I would probably be more unhappy about it if we had not won the game. Is that right? It wasn't working properly? It was the same last season as well, I've never seen so many crooked lines in my life.
"You just cannot celebrate. It's the first thing you think. I thought that when we scored, or thought we'd scored the goal in the first half, I thought well, it felt as if Yang, when he's had the shot, that if it's coming off it must be somebody rushing in to put the ball in the net.
"And even I thought that must be a goal. And then for it to be ruled offside. So you cannot celebrate. That goes for every manager, every coaching staff. You just can't do it until it's finally decided."
