Good Morning Britain Fans Slam 'Nonsense' Heatwave Coverage
GMB Fans Slam 'Nonsense' Heatwave Coverage

Good Morning Britain viewers were left less than impressed as they tuned into the latest episode of the ITV breakfast show, fuming over what they deemed excessive coverage of the third heatwave of the year.

Weather Presenter Laura Tobin Delivers Heatwave Update

During the programme, weather presenter Laura Tobin delivered a detailed breakdown of the forecast, announcing: "Heat wave three is building! It's spreading further North as we head through the next few days, with temperatures climbing and building day by day. Not just by day, but by night as well."

Tobin warned viewers that this forthcoming heatwave was expected to last considerably longer than those previously experienced.

Amber Heat Health Alerts and Retail Impact

Later in the show, Ravir Singh stated: "Amber heat health alerts across large parts of England come into effect from nine o'clock this morning. Retail experts have told Good Morning Britain that they are expecting a spike in sales, after they say recent figures show the May heatwave drove a surge in outdoor and summer goods and food sales."

After informing viewers that the hot weather could potentially last up to two weeks, Tobin crossed live to Nick Dixon, reporting from Selsey, asking how people were going to manage. Dixon responded: "It is going to go on a little bit longer, potentially into early next week, but it will. If you're hoping for some good news here, it will be just a fraction cooler but still potentially 35, 36 Celsius over the next 48 hours."

Viewers Vent Frustrations Online

It appears, however, that viewers aren't particularly impressed with the amount of airtime being devoted to the weather on the show, with many venting their frustrations online. One person on social media said: "Do you think we are all stupid? It's 10 days of sunshine, give us a break, and those temperatures you keep banging on about are down south."

Another added: "Stop this heatwave after heatwave nonsense. We are having a lovely, hot summer. Thousands are getting away to lay in this heat. Stop weaponising our lovely weather at the moment."

Someone else shared: "Why do we have a warning to let us know that it is going to be a nice summer day." As another wrote: "Just tell us what the weather is going to like today. #gmb". While one person reeled: "#GMB We have not had a heatwave all this year. It's been a dismal summer. When out the last week or so I have had a coat on. Hopefully we will have a decent day today but there's no sign of the sun yet. When weather people talk of the UK they mean England."

Good Morning Britain is available to watch on ITV weekdays from 6am.
