UK weather maps show scorching temperatures are set to return next week, with highs of 27C expected. The WXCharts maps, using MetDesk data, turn a volcanic red for the high temperatures on Tuesday, September 15.
The majority of the heat will be confined to the south of England, with London and surrounding areas climbing to above 26C across the day. The warmest areas are expected to be Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire, all reaching 27C.
Southern Counties to See Mid-Twenties
Temperatures in the south will climb to the mid-twenties at midday according to the weather maps, with Hertfordshire, Essex and parts of Kent reaching 26C. Later in the day, by 6pm, the heat will spread further, with Cambridgeshire and Buckinghamshire also climbing to around 26/27C.
Elsewhere, there will be highs of 24C in the Midlands, whilst further north and Scotland remain slightly cooler. In Manchester, temperatures will reach 18C, alongside the hottest areas of Scotland. Some parts of Yorkshire may climb to 20C.
Nine Counties Above 26C by 6pm
By 6pm, nine counties will be above 26C: Essex, Middlesex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Greater London, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Buckinghamshire.
According to the Met Office, the UK is expecting sunshine and showers on Tuesday. However, it will remain breezy in the north.
Warm Spell Amid Changeable Forecast
The warm spell comes as the Met Office's forecast claims there is "scope for some rather warm days" over the coming weeks. Despite the scorching temperatures, the forecast for September 12 to 21 also predicts rain and strong winds.
It says: "Remaining changeable, with occasional rain or showers arriving from the North Atlantic, most frequent across northern and western parts of the UK, where some strong winds will also be possible at times." However, there will also be some reasonable dry and more settled periods, especially across southern areas.
