Weather forecasting models suggest temperatures could rise into the high-20s and possibly even reach 30C again next week.
The Met Office has said “short-lived warm or hot spells are possible” towards the end of this month and at the start of September, especially in southern regions.
GFS model shows 30C peak on Wednesday
The GFS weather model now shows temperatures rising again from next Tuesday, reaching 26-27C in western England and Wales, before possibly peaking at 30C on Wednesday.
The maps for Wednesday next week show the highest temperatures coming in eastern and south-eastern England where 29C-30C is on the cards, including in London.
In total, the data suggests seven counties could see 30C next week. They are all in England.

Met Office weather forecast
In its forecast for August 26 to September, the Met Office says that although temperatures are likely to be near the seasonal average, some warmer spells cannot be ruled out.
The national weather agency predicts: “Becoming more unsettled and changeable from the south at the start of this period, as showers or longer spells of rain spread north across many parts of the UK. Some heavy bursts and thunderstorms are likely at times.
“Thereafter, it will likely remain changeable through the rest of August and into early September, with rainfall amounts probably above average for the time of year.
“Some drier, more settled interludes could develop at times. Temperatures are likely to be near average, although some short-lived warm or hot spells are possible, especially in the south.”
Looking further ahead in its forecast for September 4 to September 18, the Met Office says conditions “may turn warmer later with a chance of some hot periods in the south”.
However, the start of the period is likely to be “changeable” with “longer spells of rain across many areas, perhaps heavy and thundery in places”.
