Former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan has confessed he's "scared" about his future professional work after a challenging few years. It comes after he admitted he had been having a "tough" time after ending his marriage to ex-wife Ola.
James opens up on career fears in new podcast
In the debut episode of his new podcast, Manopause, alongside Brendan Cole, the pair tackled a variety of topics. This included the financial pressures that come with a dancing career, especially for those who are no longer at the height of their career.
James revealed: "When I have those quiet periods and I wake up in the morning and I have nothing to do, I find that really difficult. And at some point, it's all going to dry up because, yeah we're still touring, I'm 48, how many more years can I dance for?".
After Brendan joked there was likely "one year" left for James in the dance world, James said: "Exactly, this is probably going to be my last year." Brendan shot back: "With the way you're falling apart!"
"You need to watch yourself dance back mate on camera," James retorted. He later lamented: "But yeah, I don't know, I sometimes wake up and think who am I now?"
"If I haven't got my dance shoes on and my sequin top, who am I?". After Brendan suggested men particularly feel a certain pressure to be financial providers, James emphasised that it originates from having extra responsibilities to think about, such as their families.
Co-parenting daughter Ella after split
The dancer shares a six-year-old daughter, Ella, with his estranged wife Ola, whom he married in 2003. Earlier this month, the couple revealed they had split after 23 years of marriage, but were working together to raise their daughter.
In his first television appearance since the break up on This Morning this week, James offered an update on how he was doing. He caused concern, revealing to viewers he was now living by himself in a one-bedroom flat after what had been a "tough" few months.
When host Angela Scanlon asked how he was managing, he replied: "I'm okay. It's been a tough few years and obviously myself and Ola, I've moved out a few months ago and it has been really tough."
In a statement released earlier this month, the former Celebrity Big Brother star explained things were rather hard for him. He explained: "I moved out of the family home some time ago."
"This has been an incredibly painful and emotional journey for us both and it certainly wasn't an easy decision," he added. He went on to say: "Our absolute priority, now and always, is our beautiful daughter Ella."
"She's at the centre of everything we do. We are committed to co-parenting her with all the love, care and stability she deserves."
