Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch 2 price will increase by £24 from September 1, 2026, in the UK, Europe, US and Japan. The recommended retail price will rise from £395.99 to £419.99 on the Nintendo Store.
Price rise details and timing
In a social media post on August 20, the UK Nintendo Store announced the revision, stating: "From 01/09, Nintendo Switch 2's price will be revised from £395.99/€469,99 to £419.99/€499,99 on Nintendo Store."
Customers have less than two weeks to purchase the console at the current lower price. At the time of writing, Argos and Very are selling the Switch 2 for £380, while Amazon offers it for £374.99 for a limited time.
Bundles and backwards compatibility
These models do not come with games, but the Switch 2 is backwards compatible with the original Switch, allowing users to transfer existing games. Amazon offers bundles including a console with Splatoon Raiders for £414.98, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream for £414.98, and Pokemon Pokopia for £423.99. The Mario Kart World bundle is the most expensive at £434.94.
Nintendo's explanation and context
Nintendo blamed 'changes in market conditions' and 'global business outlook' for the decision. The company said: "We sincerely apologise for the impact these price revisions may have on our customers and other stakeholders, and we deeply appreciate your understanding."
The Switch 2 increase is less severe than rival consoles. The PS5 and Xbox Series saw prices rise from £499 to £669, while the PS5 Pro increased from £699.99 to £789.99.
