UK Weather Maps Turn Icy White as 55 Areas to Hit 0C or Below
UK Weather: 55 Areas to Drop to 0C or Below in Days

Weather maps are set to turn an icy white as sub-zero temperatures are forecast to chill the UK later this month. Forecasters believe the mercury could drop as low as -2C on Friday, November 13, as wintry temperatures arrive at the backend of autumn.

Weather maps from WX Charts show 55 counties are due to see a very cold start that morning, the beginning of a frozen weekend. On Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15, the low will be -2C and -3C respectively. The high across all three days on the weather charts is only 7C.

Met Office Long-Range Forecast

The long-range Met Office forecast for November 6-15 is: "High pressure is likely to dominate conditions across much of the UK initially, with large amounts of cloud at times but any amounts of rain or drizzle tending to be small. Quite breezy in the south, but a greater chance of some fog patches in northern areas where winds will be lighter."

"As the high pressure begins to migrate away to the east, frontal systems may attempt to bring some occasional rain to parts of the southwest and/or northwest at times, though exactly how much progress into the UK this makes is uncertain. In any case, rainfall is likely to be below average in many areas for this period as a whole, with temperatures initially a little below average before returning to near or slightly above average."

Regional Temperature Breakdown

Weather maps show the cold weather is not just confined to the northern-most parts of the UK. All four nations will see temperatures hit freezing or colder, even as far south as Somerset. In England, western areas of the country will see 0C, as will central areas of the north of England. In the south and east, it will stay above 0C but remain Baltic with highs of 5C on Saturday and Sunday. Mid-Wales will see some of the coldest temperatures, plunging to -1C on Sunday.

Over the Irish Sea, the western edges of Northern Ireland will get to freezing - but Scotland is where it will be coldest. The Highlands will chill down to -3C on Sunday, and major cities like Glasgow should also fall to -1C.
