Weather maps indicate that temperatures will reach 30C in parts of Essex at 6pm on Wednesday, September 30, with nine areas across the UK forecast to exceed 25C.
Warmest conditions in the South East
By midday on September 30, temperatures are expected to reach 29C, with the warmest areas in the South East of England. London is predicted to hit 27C, while coastal areas in Sussex are forecast to be around 25C.
Despite the warmer conditions in the south, it is likely to remain slightly cooler in the north, with Greater Manchester predicted to not even reach 20C. Areas in the West Midlands and Yorkshire will reach 22C, with parts of the East Midlands forecast a temperature of 24C.
Areas above 27C
The following areas are forecast to see temperatures above 27C:
- Norfolk
- Suffolk
- Essex
- Kent
- East Sussex
- West Sussex
- Surrey
- Greater London
- Hertfordshire
Surrounding areas are also expected to climb to 29C, including Kent and parts of Suffolk.
Met Office forecast for end of month
The Met Office forecast for the period from September 22 to October 1 predicts some 'increasingly warm' spells. It says: "The first part of this period will likely see a build of pressure across much of the UK, with Atlantic weather fronts becoming more confined to the far north west."
"As such, plenty of dry and increasingly warm and perhaps rather humid weather will develop across the majority of areas."
