Grass Fire Near Arthur's Seat Sends Smoke Over Edinburgh

A large grass fire has broken out in Holyrood Park near Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, sending a plume of smoke over the city.

Fire Details

The fire started in an area of vegetation near the ruins of St Anthony's Chapel on Monday evening. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene at around 6.50pm.

Weather Conditions

The fire comes as Edinburgh experiences a sunny spell, with the Met Office recording a maximum temperature of 25°C. During the Edinburgh Marathon at the weekend, a number of runners were treated for heat exhaustion, and the Scottish Ambulance Service reported that 16 people were taken to hospital on Sunday.
