A British couple reportedly on their honeymoon are thought to be among the victims of a helicopter crash on the Greek island of Sifnos. The aircraft came down shortly after 6pm local time (4pm UK time) on Monday (August 17), bursting into flames and killing all three people on board.
Victims identified
According to local sources, two of the deceased were a British pair enjoying their honeymoon on the island, while the third is understood to be a seasoned pilot and married father-of-three with a military background, the Mirror reports.
Emergency crews rushed to the crash site, which occurred close to residential properties in the Tholos area. The fire brigade confirmed the recovery of three bodies after extinguishing the blaze.

The helicopter, run by Bellavia Aviation Services, came down moments before its scheduled landing at Sifnos heliport. Onlookers reported hearing an unusual sound as the aircraft made its approach, Proto Thema reported.
A photograph captured in the immediate aftermath revealed plumes of dense black smoke rising from a fireball at the location.
