A man fell 30 feet onto rocks at Tanybwlch beach in Aberystwyth during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Emergency services were called to the scene at 1.47am.
Joint emergency response
Crews from HM Coastguard Aberystwyth and Borth were joined by Dyfed-Powys Police and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service to reach the casualty. The man was taken to hospital by road ambulance, where he is now receiving treatment.
Rope rescue operation
In a statement, HM Coastguard Borth wrote: "The team were called alongside HM Coastguard Aberystwyth in a joint emergency response. A person had fallen around 30 feet onto the rocks by Tanybwlch."
"Paramedics were able to access him to provide initial treatment but needed our capability as rope rescue teams to safely recover them from the rocks below up to the awaiting ambulance. We all wish him well and offer him a speedy recovery."
New recruits involved
The statement added: "Four of our newest recruits across the two teams now have had their first real rope rescue experience and joint emergency response call-out. It is very different to a training session but they all played their part in enabling a safe and effective recovery."
