A Jet2 flight from London to Bulgaria was diverted to Germany after a medical incident on board. Flight LS1413, travelling from London Stansted to Burgas Airport in south-east Bulgaria, landed at Frankfurt Airport at 5.43pm local time (4.43pm BST) on Monday.
Refuelling stop before continuing to Bulgaria
Jet2 said the diversion was "due to a medical incident on board" and added that the aircraft would refuel in Frankfurt before continuing to Bulgaria. The Airbus A321 later arrived at Burgas at 10.27pm local time (8.27pm BST) — around one hour and 45 minutes after its scheduled arrival time of 8.40pm.
In a customer information notice on its website, Jet2 said: "Due to a medical incident on board, we wanted to let you know that flight LS1413 London Stansted to Bourgas will need to make a fuel stop in Frankfurt.
"Once the plane has refuelled, it will then continue to Bourgas Airport. This is an unscheduled change, so we're doing everything we can to minimise any disruption to your onward journey.
"Thanks in advance for your understanding and patience during this time - we'll have you on your way as quickly as we can."
Jet2 reports rise in summer bookings
Jet2 says it is the UK's biggest package holiday provider and the country's third-largest airline, behind easyJet and British Airways. The company said summer bookings were higher than last year and that it was on track for a stronger winter season.
Jet2 said earlier this month that the number of passengers booked for summer 2026 travel was up 8.8 per cent compared with last year. This included growth across both its package holidays and flight-only deals.
Jet2 said its load factor — a key metric for airlines showing the average proportion of seats filled on its flights — was 1.5 percentage points ahead of last summer. It also said seat capacity for winter 2026-27 was 8 per cent higher than the previous year, at 5.9 million seats, after expanding at London Gatwick airport.
