South Lanarkshire Council has completed improvement works on the Clyde Walkway between Mauldslie Bridge and Crossford, replacing stairs, boardwalks and fencing.

Improvement works have been completed on the Clyde Walkway between Mauldslie Bridge and Crossford, according to South Lanarkshire Council.

Works carried out on the route

The local authority's Countryside and Greenspace Team worked with an external contractor to replace stairs and boardwalks, realign pathways and replace fencing. The aim is to ensure the route can be enjoyed for many years to come.

Significance of the Clyde Walkway

Andrew Stokes, Head of Facilities, Waste and Grounds Services, said: “The Clyde Walkway is one of Scotland’s Great Trails, offering a varied 65 km (40 mile) route from the bustling heart of Glasgow to New Lanark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
