Apex Legends Season 28 Breach: Comprehensive Launch Details and Gameplay Updates
Respawn Entertainment is poised to unveil a substantial new season of content for Apex Legends, introducing the highly anticipated Breach update. This major release, designated as Season 28, brings a wealth of fresh gameplay mechanics, character adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements to the popular battle royale title.
Key Features and Character Enhancements
The Breach update introduces significant modifications to several legends, most notably Fuse, who receives a completely reworked Ultimate ability. Fuse now deploys a mortar that impacts the ground and disperses a cluster of smaller explosives, effectively enabling players to clear expansive areas with strategic precision.
A groundbreaking addition is the Hardlight mesh, a new environmental feature within the Apex Games. These destructible and breachable windows provide protective cover while maintaining visibility. Players can destroy Hardlight barriers, which will automatically regenerate after a set duration. Furthermore, these windows can be reinforced to offer enhanced defensive capabilities, adding a dynamic layer to tactical gameplay.
Season 28 Breach Release Schedule
Apex Legends Season 28: Breach is scheduled for launch on February 28, 2026, across all platforms including consoles and PC. The update will go live simultaneously with a comprehensive patch.
The release time is set for 6:00 PM GMT in the United Kingdom. For international players, this corresponds to 10:00 AM PT and 1:00 PM ET in the United States, and 7:00 PM CET across Europe. This synchronized rollout ensures all regions can access the new content concurrently.
Detailed Patch Notes Overview
Balance Updates: The Care Package rotation sees the P2020 pistol returning to standard loot pools, while the G7 Scout moves into Care Packages. Gold Weapon rotations now include the Sentinel, VK-47 Flatline, Peacekeeper, 30-30 Repeater, and Akimbo P2020. Evo Shield mechanics are adjusted: reviving teammates grants full Evo points (100) for the first two revives per team per match, with subsequent revives diminishing by 25 points until no reward is given.
Equipment Changes: Knockdown Shields have been removed from the general loot pool and are now intrinsically linked to legend level, meaning a Legend at Level 1 automatically receives a White Knockdown Shield. Additionally, White Backpacks are no longer found as loot but are included in starter kits.
Bug Fixes: Multiple issues have been resolved, including a Storm Point bug where the first Ring could spawn incorrectly, problems with Power Booster Amp UI display, Crate Weapons losing infinite ammo, controller legends being unable to remotely retrieve tacticals in Wildcard mode, and visual effects not playing correctly on the reactive EVA-8 "Heart of Brimstone" skin.
Quality of Life Improvements: Weapons will no longer interrupt actions like shooting or healing when a player levels up, updating seamlessly in hand or inventory. The manual upgrade prompt has been removed due to this automation. Ballistic's Sling weapon will no longer disrupt shooting during upgrades or downgrades via Ultimate or Evo leveling. The Settings Menu has been reorganized into five subcategories (Combat, Movement, HUD UI, Accessibility, Privacy) for easier navigation. Additional voicelines are added for pinging Elite Weapons, and Respawn Beacon icons will flash on maps after use by another team.
Engine Updates: Graphics device selection has been improved for systems with multiple options. A user-facing error message now appears if the minimum Shader Model 6.0 specification is unsupported, often indicating outdated drivers that require updating.
