PlayStation fans looking to add a splash of colour to their setup are in for a treat, as Sony has just pulled back the curtain on three dazzling new colour schemes for its hardware.
A Burst of RGB for Your Console
The electronics giant has unveiled fresh looks for both the DualSense wireless controller and the customisable console covers. Dubbed 'Techno Red', 'Remix Green', and 'Rhythm Blue', the trio represents some of the brightest and most vibrant shades Sony has ever produced for the PS5, effectively covering the primary colours of the RGB spectrum.
These are accessories designed for players who want their console to stand out, not blend into the entertainment unit. Sae Kobayashi from Sony's design team explained the vision behind the new aesthetic. "A seamless gradient wraps around the front and back of the DualSense," Kobayashi said, "finished in a high-gloss coat that makes the colors POP more than ever. The console covers are also getting the same glow-up, featuring a subtle hint of transparency."
Availability, Pricing, and Compatibility Details
Gamers eager to get their hands on these colourful additions will need to act fast. Sony has confirmed that all three designs will be available in limited quantities starting March 12, 2026. They will be sold exclusively through the PlayStation Direct online store.
Pre-orders for the accessories will go live much sooner, opening on January 16. Pricing is set at £74.99 for the DualSense controllers, aligning them with other special edition pads like the God of War 20th Anniversary and Ghost of Yotei controllers. The matching PS5 console covers will cost £64.99.
It is crucial to note a key compatibility detail: the new console covers will only fit the slim model of the PlayStation 5. Owners of the original launch model or the PS5 Pro will not be able to use them, though the new DualSense controllers will pair and work with all PS5 variants without issue.
Community Reaction and the 'Brat' Green Phenomenon
The announcement has already generated significant buzz online, particularly on platforms like Reddit. The 'Remix Green' variant has captured special attention, with many users quickly noting its striking resemblance to the cover art for Charli XCX's popular 'Brat' album. This has led to the colourway being affectionately dubbed the 'PS5 partygirl' by the community.
This launch continues Sony's strategy of consistently offering new ways for players to personalise their PlayStation 5 experience, ensuring the console remains fresh in the market years after its initial release. The question now for UK gamers is which of these three bold statements they will be making in their living room come March.
