Nintendo has once again delivered a thrilling showcase of upcoming games in its July 2024 Direct presentation. Packed with surprises and fan-pleasing reveals, the event gave Switch owners plenty to look forward to in the coming months.
Major First-Party Highlights
The biggest shock came with the announcement of Mario & Luigi: Brothership, a brand-new entry in the beloved RPG series launching this November. Meanwhile, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally emerged from development hell with stunning gameplay footage and a confirmed 2025 release window.
Beloved Classics Return
Nintendo revealed HD remasters of two fan-favorites: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (coming January 2025) and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (arriving later this year with modern visuals).
Third-Party Surprises
The showcase also featured exciting collaborations, including:
- Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake - A gorgeous reimagining of the classic RPG
- Fantasian Neo Dimension - The mobile RPG hits Switch with new content
- Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection - 6 classic fighting games in one package
Hardware & Services
While no new console was announced, Nintendo confirmed Switch Online will add Game Boy Advance titles later this year, including Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade and Metroid Fusion.
With this impressive lineup, Nintendo proves the Switch still has plenty of life left as we await their next-generation hardware.
