Sony has announced a new Prism collection of PlayStation 5 console covers and DualSense controllers, featuring a transparent design that shows off the hardware inside. The collection is set to launch on February 4, 2027, with pre-orders opening on November 10, 2026 at 10am local time in the UK.
Three new variants unveiled
The Prism collection includes three variants: Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Grey. The DualSense controllers will cost £74.99, while the console covers will be priced at £64.99 each, available from the PlayStation Direct store.
The monochromatic, transparent look is reminiscent of the see-through Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64 consoles from the 1990s. Leo Cardoso from PlayStation's colour, material, and finish design team explained the inspiration behind the design.
Nostalgic design meets modern hardware
'We know how much our fans have been looking forward to the return of transparent controllers,' Cardoso said via the PlayStation blog. 'We wanted to bring back the iconic see-through trend of the late ’90s in a fresh, modern way that complements the PlayStation 5’s industrial design.'
The announcement follows a series of special DualSense controllers released over the past few years, including those dedicated to God Of War, Death Stranding, Ghost of Yōtei, Marathon, Marvel’s Wolverine, and 007 First Light, as well as colour variants like Techno Red and Remix Green.
This is not the only new DualSense controller on the horizon, with Rockstar's GTA 6 also set to receive a special controller for the game's launch on November 19, 2026.
